For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. - 2 Chronicles 16:9 I remember reading this scripture many years ago and asking God, “Let that be me!” Let my heart be fully committed to you. So many distractions want to get in the way of that desire, but it’s still the desire of my heart more than anything else. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.- 2 Corinthians 4:18. This scripture helps me in that pursuit. I think about what will last in eternity. If it doesn’t matter their, I try to not let it take up too much of my head space. Although at times I’m not good at doing that. Certain things in life try to drag us down. I see all the sad stuff happening in the world and my heart breaks for people. And struggles within my own life and families lives. And then I remember: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”- John 16:33 We are in a battle. A battle for our attention, our hearts, our lives. The temporary things that won’t bring lasting happiness always try to steal our attention. And sometimes God just needs us to be still, instead of always needing more, maybe it’s about needing less with the right mindset. Seeing that God who made us, knows what’s best for us. Giving my heart and attention to allow Him to strengthen and guide me, and allowing the space to hear Him. No matter what battle you’re in friend, God isn’t far from any of us. He’s ready to strengthen those hearts who are ready to fully commit to Him, which always is a moment by moment decision for each of us. “From one man He made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us. ‘For in Him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are His offspring.’- Acts 17:2
