The Best Place to Stay in Santa Barbara | Mar Monte Hotel

Looking for the best resorts in Santa Barbara? With plenty of options all around, the Mar Monte Hotel in Santa Barbara stands out for its peaceful atmosphere and convenient location across from the beach. We enjoyed a quiet getaway in October to the Hyatt Santa Barbara Mar Monte Hotel on the east end of Santa Barbara. We had an amazing ocean view room with a balcony that had breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. We highly recommend the Mar Monte Hotel if you are looking for clean rooms, a peaceful atmosphere by the beach, , for reasonable price. We wanted to give you a quick review of our visit at one of our new favorite cool places to stay in Santa Barbara.

The Room

We were booked in a King Bed Balcony Ocean View Room which featured a King size bed, and sparkling views of the Pacific from the balcony. We had easy access to the street and crosswalk to the ocean. The bathroom was large, which included closet space which gave it a unique touch. This feature gave more space to the room itself.

Our puppy Honey Bear got to come along with us on this trip, and they were accommodating to her during our stay. There was plenty of grass outside for her to play. Although dog friendly, cleanliness was not compromised.

The Food

Cafe Lido which is located on site of the Mar Monte Hotel was where we ate all our meals during our trip. I am Gluten Free, and they were able to accommodate me with a few options to eat off of their menu. I enjoyed the Little Gem Lettuce salad and the Charred Shishito Peppers. Caleb loves burgers so he ordered the Cali Prime Burger which was juicy and very flavorful. A great side to add along with the burger is the Crispy Yukon Gold Potatoes . Cafe Lido is right next to the pool which allows you to order from your chair or find a place at one of their outdoor tables. We did both and enjoyed them equally.

The Pool

We spent a majority of the time during our stay by their beautiful pool and lounge area (which is right outside of Cafe Lido). They have plenty of options to lounge around and enjoy their pool, which is across the street from the beach. We would lay out by the pool, walk to the ocean, and then come back and enjoy a fresh cold drink by the pool. This was the perfect way to relax and take in the peaceful breeze at the beautiful Mar Monte Hotel.

Things to do in Santa Barbara

While spending time at the pool and beach were our highlights, their are plenty of other things to do in Santa Barbara. The Mar Monte Hotel is just one mile from the downtown area which has plenty of places to dine and hang out. We would go on a walk at sunrise and sunset each night to the Santa Barbara pier which is just under one mile north on the beach from the Mar Monte Hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our walks on the beach, with the calm waves crashing, the boats floating in the still water, and the sun rising over the ocean was stunning. We highly recommend making the walk from the hotel to the pier.

**The Mar Monte Hotel has bikes that you can rent (for free) at the front desk which you can use and ride during your stay as well.

Our Recommendation

The word that we used most to describe this trip was peaceful. We felt so at ease while at the resort, and at the beach throughout our time in Santa Barbara. We really enjoyed the time we spent together soaking in the sun and the ocean breeze. The hotel was far enough away from downtown that it didn’t feel to busy, but close enough that if we wanted to be around the hustle and bustle of the main street, we could easily make a drive or a walk. Overall we really loved staying at the Mar Monte Hotel and we highly recommend making a trip if you are looking for a nice getaway. There are plenty of things to do in Santa Barbara which makes this one of our favorite places to stay in California.
