Lakers News
It was an eerie feeling in LA wednesday night as the Lakers began their 2016-17 campaign without their lead man Kobe Bryant for the first time in two decades. No Kobe meant no problem on Wednesday as the Lakers were able to cruise to their first victory of the season. There has been a sense of excitement around this Lakers team with so much young talent on the roster, and they showed what that talent can do in starting off this season with a win over the Houston Rockets at home 120-114.
The Los Angeles Lakers started a lineup without a huge marquee player for the first time in years as they were led by Julius Randle and D’Angelo Russell. Surprisingly, Rookie Brandon Ingram started on the bench for the Lakers as they ease him into his first NBA regular season action with the rookie posting a 9point, 3 rebound stat line. The Lakers were also led by Jordan Clarkson’s 25 points off of the bench to beat the talented Rockets led by James Harden posting a double double.
The feeling surrounding this Lakers season is obviously rebuilding, but there is also the allure of the unknown and the promise of what the future will bring. With Luke Walton as their head coach, they have a chance to build something special long term. But before we look too far into the future, tonight they have Utah to think about.
