People can doubt God and try to explain Him away. But we can’t take away a persons story and transformation, hope and joy that God has brought them.
I asked Joel some questions, about his life and his story.
Joel was raised in church and his religion was based on rules and regulations, not relationship. He didn’t have that revelation until he was 22. In his late teens and early 20’s he was drinking 4-5 nights a week to get black out drunk, smoking for 6 years, partying, indulging in sin wherever he could and promiscuous relationships. God changed his life January 6th, 2008 and His life has never been the same. He’s now almost 10 years sober, been married for 8 years and has a son. He says that “though all the stupidity and sin he lived, God kept him safe and has proven time after time that He is faithful.”
Joel is most thankful for his wife and little boy. He’s so grateful to do life with them. More importantly he’s thankful for who gave them to him. He knows where the blessings come from in his love and he’s forever thankful that God loves him more than he will ever be able to understand.
The bible says that children are a blessing and a gift from the Lord, and what his wife, Cherry and him have learned so much that has changed their lives on their journey to parenthood. There son has taught them so many invaluable lessons before they ever even saw him face to face. 5 years of tears, pain, disappointment, a failed surgery, and yet God remained faithful. Their son is a miracle.
His favorite bible verse is:
Lamentations 3:22-23
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.
We see God’s love and faithfulness by interacting with this family. We’re so grateful for the start of a special friendship with them.
We're praising God for His faithfulness & love! And this beautiful family He has created!!
